Integral Floor and mould handler for prefab floors
The VBI Integral Floor was developed for mass-produced, ground-level housing construction, fully automated production of prefab floor elements. KTB Machinery and Consmema realised the project as turnkey machine builders, from concept engineering to the commissioning of the production line.
From concept to operational production line
KTB Machinery took care of the full process: from concept engineering to the commissioning of the production line and all intermediate steps. The prefab floor solution provides a smooth finish on floor and ceiling, integrated stairwells and pre-installed technical systems. The floors can be used immediately.
Automated production and moulding technology
The floor slabs are produced in an automated carousel with rotating steel moulds. Installations are fitted into the floor in a step-by-step process in a horizontal position. After installation, moulds are automatically closed, tilted 90 degrees to a vertical position for concrete pouring, and reopened horizontally once the concrete has set. The ready-to-use product is removed from the mould by a specially developed handling tool.
Result and impact
The integration of installations during production, makes work on the construction site less dependent on other processes. Project planning is predictable, reduces failure costs and increases throughput. Production is now fully operational as a significant step in the industrialisation of prefabricated housing construction.
