Smart technology for efficient housing construction

The new production line, designed and implemented by KTB Machinery, is to operate as a carousel system. This innovative design will enable Barli to double their housing production capacity in Hall 1.

Flexibility and customisation are crucial for success

The production line will be equipped with state-of-the-art technical solutions, allowing the entire line to advance efficiently. One of the most impressive aspects of the new production line is its flexibility. Each module can be unique with varying dimensions. This allows us to meet various housing needs and urban planning requirements.

Andries Peters, director of Barli says:  ‘This flexibility allows us to respond quickly to changing market demands. By working smarter, we can aim for a lead time of six working days from the floor to the last skirting board.’

Quality and precision first

‘KTB Machinery raises the bar in terms of quality and precision. The platform trolleys are designed to carry a maximum load of 20 tonnes with a deflection not exceeding 3 mm. This guarantees the structural strength of each house during the production process,’ says Thomas ten Brinke, Technical Director of KTB Machinery.

Sustainable impact on the housing market

The implementation of this smart production line will have a lasting impact on the Dutch housing market. By doubling their production capacity, Barli can respond faster to the growing demand for affordable and high-quality housing. Several municipalities and housing corporations have already expressed their interest in the possibilities offered by this increased production capacity. A spokesperson for a major Dutch municipality says: ‘These kinds of innovations are exactly what we need to face the housing crisis. We look forward to seeing how this project develops.’

Future-oriented cooperation

The collaboration between KTB Machinery and Barli is a great example of technological innovation and industrial expertise coming together to tackle societal challenges. The turn-key delivery of the carousel in Uden by KTB Machinery underlines the trust and close cooperation between the two companies.  ‘So in October we will start installing the line with KTB Machinery: rails on the floors, construction of the transport carts, installation of hydraulics and electricity, setting up the workstations. We plan to start trial runs in early December, so that the first modules will roll off the line by Christmas. Exciting, but we can’t wait!’ says Andries Peters.
